I’m Kharis Eppstein and I’m running for City Auditor to ensure Denver’s independent watchdog keeps government effective, and that our tax dollars are spent wisely, transparently, and for the public good.
When waste or inefficiency shows up, my role as Auditor will be to shine a light and demand accountability.

Keep a qualified, independent, and ethical auditor in office.
Establish a fraud, waste and abuse investigation team.
Ensure your voice is heard and that the office audits topics that are important to you.
Identify and help city agencies correct issues before they become problems.
Increase implementation rate of audit recommendations.
Create a dedicated community liaison to ensure stakeholders always have a clear line of communication with the office.
Ensure Denver Labor protects Denver residents from wage theft, while also educating businesses on labor laws.
Increase trust in Denver Labor through external audits of its processes.
Create a diversion program for local small businesses - for everything but retaliation, Denver Labor will help the business through payment plans and waiving fines before a determination is issued.
Promote transparency and public trust in the office and Denver government.

The Auditor operates independently of the mayor's office and city council to provide an objective "watchdog" function.
The office performs financial and performance audits of city departments and agencies to evaluate effectiveness and efficiency, scrutinizing things like city contracts, technology systems, and program effectiveness.
The auditor is elected by the people and answers directly to them, not the mayor or the city council.
